Medicine can mean the difference between life and death.

The skill of Medicine is all about aiding a living beings natural ability to heal within the use of knowledge and aids (both artificial and natural) designed to enhance and assist as well as speed up the bodies ability to heal itself. The skill of Medicine is closely related to the Gnosis of Healing. While healing is the instantaneous goddess-granted ability (Rak'keli), medicine is an art and science anyone can learn through intensive study and hands-on training. Medicine comes in numerous forms throughout Mizahar. The Akvatari for example use music and color in their practice of medicine. The Akalak believe in training the mind to deal with health and fitness before serious illness develops. The Konti take a hands on holistic approach - dealing with diet, inner energies, and the creation of complex medicines made from wholesome ingredients. From almost any race or cultural group, one can find a wide array of approaches to aiding a body to feel better.

Medicine in Mizahar isn't only restricted to sentient races either. If a person has the skill of medicine, they have the ability to practice it on animals as well.

Learning Medicine

The quickest easiest way to learn the skill of medicine is to apprentice to a person who already practices it. Many true healers (those marked by Rak'keli) also learn medicine as a means of augmenting their already formidable powers. Many of those who practice medicine also branch out into herbalism and learn how to incorporate the healing powers of plants into their practice as well. Medicine can be self taught as well, however this form isn't as reliable as learning the skill from someone already trained.
