Sun's Birth

History
The Sun’s Birth beginning comes shortly after a coup orchestrated by Jardeg Joander and backed by the four most independently powerful individuals within the gated community. With their resources and devious minds combined with Jardeg’s elite force of fighters they unseated the self-titled Baron Berth and took over the Gated Community. As the five would gather after the Baron’s death at the edge of Jardeg’s own sword, an immediate realization dawned upon them; they might control the fortress but Sunberth mentality dictated they know the pecking order. And so the struggles would begin, Joander was excluded and considered the unanimous leader as the commander of the Dragoons but the four others would squabble for every shred of power within the newly born syndicate.

Relations
Night’s Eyes- Poor but not inherently enemies. The Night’s eyes are viewed as children with more power than they can control, dangerous but not directly a threat. Sun’s Birth benefits from the Night’s Eyes animosity with Robern, keeping the Daggerhands from attacking the Gated Community and its external assets for the most part. Most often the thieves are left to their business but occasionally the dragoons will strike against them to keep them in their place as far as the Council is concerned.
Daggerhands- Openly Hostile. Robern has made no secret of his goals for dominion and with the Gated Community as the most defensible seat of power in Sunberth it is an obvious target for the Daggerhands. If Robern could gain control of the fortress not even the Night’s Eyes could stand long in his path to supremacy.
The other small gangs are considered less than vermin by the denizens of the Gated Community and this sentiment flows all the way up the ranks. For the most part they are ignored and written off as more troubles to keep Robern off their back though he does keep a close eye on Dastana Nariette:. No gangs are allowed to assemble within the secured walls and any inkling of such gets the accused unceremoniously thrown out on or a rendezvous with a bloodier fate depending upon who discovers them. No exceptions are made, the Sun’s Birth will not allow for their own rebellion tactics to be used against them.
Prominent Members
The Sun’s Birth are controlled first and foremost by Jardeg Joander by virtue of his leadership of the Dragoons; the strongest trained force to call Sunberth its home. In his advanced age Jardeg has withdrawn from the council decisions more and more, finding them to be tedious at the best of times. This leaves the decision making up to the four individuals to aid him in his coup; Goldfinger, Killjoy, Ruby Demoya, and Cossete Demoya.
The Dragoons are a force led by Jardeg and within the Gated Community they keep the peace by any means necessary. As one example the Dragoons enforce the curfew, no citizens out after dark. Outside of the castle walls The Dragoons are the main face of the syndicate, the most openly marked members and the ones often involved in any direct conflict with the opposing syndicates.
Internal Politics
Out of character note: This information is extremely difficult to come by IC and requires a specific lore to signify the knowledge is gained. Ex. Lore: Relationship between Goldfinger and Silvertongue |
The hierarchy in the council took years to stabilize but with the raise of the Night’s eyes power their attention has begun to watch more closely the shifting powers beyond the city walls and consequently lessened the internal squabbles. The only constant to be found in the politics is the unwavering loyalty towards Jardeg that all of the council members exhibit.
Goldfinger is by leaps and bounds the richest man within the Gated Community, making his fortune primarily using his clever charms to weasel every penny from any fool willing to take out a loan. Most unfortunate souls find themselves paying far beyond the original loan amount in interest. Among the council members his word stands on the same level as Killjoy’s, who just so happens to be his biggest opponent. His closest, and indeed only, ally is Cossette ‘Silvertongue’ Demoya. Silvertongue is the rogue of the four, garnering her power in typical Sunberth fashion; by stealing and selling the goods right back to their owners.
On the opposing side stands Killjoy, who won his place on the council through two methods. The first , and more overt, reason is by being the proprietor of the Delicates and Dandies the finest tailor’s shop in all of the Sunberth. The second is that Killjoy is irreplaceable as the spymaster for the Sun’s birth; anything that happens outside the city walls is witnessed by Joy’s kelvic spies and anything his spies know he knows. As his ally the spymaster has taken the fickle Demoya sister Ruby who is the Madame at Ruby’s Scarlet Sunctum and has been since the ripe young age of 16.
Joining and Leaving the Sun’s Birth
Joining the wealthy syndicate is not difficult; it only demands that someone be rich or powerful. Anyone living within the walls of Gated Community is considered part of the syndicate but the real trick is gaining any amount of clout. To gain influence a person would need to be incredibly politically savvy and either be uniquely useful or run an exceptionally prosperous business. The very best way to begin climbing the ranks is to cozy up to one of the four leaders and become indispensible.
Alternatively for the less socially adept there is another option; the Dragoons are always on the lookout for perspective members.
Leaving the Syndicate is another matter entirely. There are virtually no ways to leave without bloodshed or bounty; once a member always a member. It is although possible to be evicted from the Sun’s Birth by a council decision or at the whim of Jardeg himself.
